Wallace Nutting "Windsor Roadside" Hand-Colored Photo

Unusual circa 1915-25 hand-colored photo, "Windsor Roadside" by Wallace Nutting. Original mat, backing paper, pen signature & title. (Frame does NOT appear to be original to the work.)

Wallace Nutting (November 17, 1861 – July 19, 1941) was a U.S. minister, photographer, artist, and antiquarian, who is most famous for his landscape photos of New England. His atmospheric photographs helped spur the Colonial Revival style. In the peak of his business, Nutting employed about two-hundred colorists. The colorists painted the photographs which he took. These colorists would sometimes sign Wallace Nutting's name on the photos which is why the signatures vary.
