"Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book Of Fine Old Recipes"

In the early years of the eighteenth century, nearly all of the first settlers in Eastern Pennsylvania came from the Palatinate in Germany. Though these settlers came from Germany, they came to be known as the Pennsylvania Dutch. They brought with them the recipes of the traditionally famous German cooks, but the hardships of the land and the sparsity of towns didn't always make it easy to procure the necessary ingredients for these meals, and it became necessary to revise existing recipes, as well as create new ones, that utilized the ingredients that were readily available in the region. The Pennsylvania Dutch soon became famous for their fine cooking and tasty dishes.

This rare vintage cookbook features 48 pages of cooking instructions "compiled from tried and tested recipes made famous and handed down by the early Dutch settlers of Pennsylvania." Includes such favorites as Hasen Pfeffer, Schnitzel, German Potato Pancakes, Fritters, Chow Chow, Shoo-fly Cake, Thanksgiving Butter Scotch Pie, and much, much more.
