Stained Glass Moravian Star Ornament

The first Moravian star is known to have originated in the 1830s at the Moravian Boys' School in Niesky, Germany, most probably as a geometry lesson or project. Although the star originated in the church's schools as a geometry lesson, it was soon adopted throughout the Moravian Church as an Advent symbol. Moravian stars continue to be popular decorations today, and are no longer confined to just the holidays.

These metal and glass Moravian stars are handmade by a skilled artisan in Bethlehem, PA which has a rich Moravian history. Obviously these are perfect hanging from the branches of a Christmas tree, but they can be used in so many other ways as well! Place a cluster on your mantel or use as a centerpiece on your dining table. A perfect hostess gift! And a great souvenir of a visit to Christmas City USA.
