Go Inside Nate Berkus' Manhattan Apartment
•Posted on September 09 2015
There shouldn't be any doubt that designer husbands Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent are living the good life.
The couple, along with their new daughter, Poppy, showcase their stylish New York apartment on the October cover of Architectural Digest. Berkus tells the magazine that he and Brent lived on opposite coasts when they began dating a few years ago, but knew that they wanted to raise their daughter, who was born in March via a surrogate, in Manhattan.
Finding the perfect apartment in Greenwich Village wasn't easy, so they opted to convert two separate apartments into the perfect three-bedroom on lower Fifth Avenue, not far from Washington Square.
"The energy we discovered working on our home together is unlike anything else,” Brent, who is Rachel Zoe's former assistant, said. “We do our best work when we are together.”
Berkus, who is the host of “American Dream Builders,” echoed those sentiments, and said, “I look back and realize that before I met Jeremiah, I had sort of stopped seeing. Being with him and starting to see through his eyes -- I was rejuvenated.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, set out to create a home where the family could “live beautifully,” and we'd say they've succeeded.
“Everyone should be able to sit in a room with pieces that spark memories. If you create the feeling that a home is a vessel for stories and memories, you have succeeded,” Berkus said. “Great design is like great love: You trust your gut.”
