What is Christkindlmarkt?
•Posted on October 15 2020

We’re at Christkindlmarkt in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania! Along with a fantastic selection of other vendors, we have a huge assortment of items that you (and your gift recipients) will love... and it's located beneath the steel stacks of the former Bethlehem Steel!
You’ll find something for everyone on your list and will probably even treat yourself to a few things as well!
But… what IS Christkindlmarkt?
‘Christkind’ literally translates to ‘Christ Child’ but in actuality, its real meaning is ‘angel-like.’ So it’s ‘a spirit of Christmas’ market. Various cities all throughout the globe celebrate their own Christkindlmarkt, and Bethlehem, PA is no exception.
For 28 years, Bethlehem has been celebrating Christkindlmarkt with family friendly shopping and wares, delicious food from local vendors, and appearances from St. Nick himself!
The market has gone through updates and changes over the years, and this year is certainly no exception. While 2020 has been something, Christkindlmarkt has decided to open early this year and run through the end of November! Its updated layout allows for ample social distancing (and a gorgeous view of the steel stacks!)
If you’re interested in coming to the market, you’ll need admission. Head to christmascity.org for all of the safety rules and regulation, and to purchase admission!
